This $42.5M pipeline extension project consisted of laying two miles of 72-inch diameter steel pipe, with 175 cfs capacity, from the existing Foothill Pipeline to Citrus Reservoir as well as three miles of 66-inch buried steel pipe and fitting from Citrus Pump Station to Crafton Hills Pumping Plant. The south segment of the pipeline crosses the Santa Ana River wash and was placed 40-feet below ground at the main channel of the river to ensure the pipeline will not be affected by high flows in the river. Additional work included concrete encasement, pipe zone backfill, access structures, roadway reconstruction and cathodic protection.
By establishing a G3 Quality onsite mobile laboratory, the owner and contractor were able to obtain real time quality information reducing both parties risk and ultimately expediting the schedule. G3 Quality also implemented a Quality Program which delivered monthly summary reports outlinging all inspection points monitored, control tests taken and their specification compliance. Each report provided a quality score in regards to any non addressed outstanding NCR’s. This program allowed the owner and contractor to proactively address quality assurance acceptance minimizing any potential disputes.
