PROJECT SCOPE

Three bridges are undergoing construction: the Valley View Avenue Bridge, the North Firestone Boulevard Bridge over Coyote Creek, and the I-5 freeway bridge at Coyote Creek. The new Valley View bridge includes a railroad overpass.

OUR ROLE

As an integral part of the Quality Management Team, G3 Quality is providing quality materials control, inspection, and testing. We have been delivering quality control inspection, sampling, and testing services on the project since construction began in 2016. Our scope covers quality control management for Lean Concrete Base, Lean Concrete Base – Rapid Setting (LCB-RS), Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA), Jointed Plain Concrete Pavement (JPCP), Jointed Plain Concrete Pavement – Rapid Setting Concrete (JPCP-RSC), and Structural Concrete. Major features of the project include construction of soffit (deck underside) and stem walls on the north end of the second half of the bridge; falsework (temporary frame support) on the south end, and a pedestrian walkway on the first half of the bridge. The project also includes bents for the new on-ramp to southbound I-5 and the S. Firestone Boulevard exit from the bridge.

OUR ADDED VALUE

G3 Quality continues to provide our well-recognized Caltrans experience, demonstrated ability to successfully manage complex construction schedules (including night and weekend shifts), and collaboration with many construction, engineering, and program management entities. G3 Quality also developed many of the structural and pavement concrete mix designs for this project – all to ensure quality materials and practices are implemented to successfully complete this important regional project.
